Make a delightful snowman wall/door hanging to decorate your home this winter.  His happy face will bring good cheer to you during the snow.  Using strip piecing and applique, Sue will show you how to use decorate stitches on your machine to add some panache to your snowman.  Background piecing is required prior to class.  Workshop fee includes pattern.

Supply List

  • 1/3 yard background fabric
  • 1/6 yard border fabric
  • Variety of black fabric strips (1-1/4″ to 2-1/2″ wide by 9″ long)
  • 4-1/2″ x 10″ black fabric for hat brim
  • 8″ x 8″ white for snowman face
  • 6″ x 6″ red for cardinal
  • 1 yd. Heat-n-Bond Lite or Ultra-Light fusible web
  • A pen for tracing
  • Sharp scissors that can cut both paper and cloth
  • Thread to match fabrics
  • Sewing machine, power cord, foot control
  • Open toe foot for sewing machine (if you have one)

Pre-cut and sew:
Background piece: cut 1 – 10 1/2″ x 24 1/2″

Borders: Cut 2 – 2 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ (top and bottom)

Cut 2 – 2 1/2″ x 28 1/2″ (sides)

Begin by attaching the top and bottom borders to background piece, then add side borders.
