Do you know how to sew but want to learn the tips and techniques to make a quilt?  In this 5-week course we will start with the basics of quilting and proceed with new techniques each week.  You will complete a lap-sized sampler by the end of the program.  Learn about fabric selection, threads, 1/4″ seam allowances, rotary cutting, strip piecing, bias edges, machine quilting and binding. Homework will be assigned each week.  Course fee includes handouts.  Receive 10% off any supplies listed for the class.

-sewing machine (and user’s manual) with regular or ¼” foot
-marking pens or pencil
-seam ripper
-large safety pins (or curved basting pins)
-thread (any color, but white works best)
-quilting (or darning/open toe) foot
-walking foot
-rotary cutter
-cutting mat
-rotary cutting ruler (Quilter’s Rule or similar)
-6 ½” or 9 ½” square ruler
Fabric A — ¾ yd. white/off-white fabric
Fabric B —  ¾ yd. medium-tone fabric
Fabric C —  ¾ yd. dark-tone fabric
Fabric D —  1 yd. for border
Fabric E —  ¾ yd. sashing
Fabric F —  ½ yd. binding
